On the 26th of October 2017, my form class 4C went to Kairos communications limited in Maynooth county Kildare. My classmates and I had to work together to create a TV show. The show had many different roles for students to fill in for, some were on-screen roles and some were off-screen/technical roles. The on-screen roles included actors and presenters. The off-screen/technical roles included directors, producers, floor managers, camera people, vision mixers, graphics editors and sound people. I was one of the three camera people.
When we arrived to our destination, a woman called Ita showed us around the whole recording studio. She also helped us record the tv show all throughout the day. Many of the students who undertook off-screen roles learnt many new skills with I.T. Some students learnt how to use sounds systems, some learnt how to vision mix and two other students and I learnt how to use a professional SONY recording camera!. We had roles assigned to each student in our class but we only a basic script prepared for the day. When we arrived me made up the majority of our tv show there. (We only had one week prior to prepare ourselves for it). Throughout the day we completed many rehearsals/takes to practice our tv show. When it came to the final ‘take’ everyone was very professional and worked together to make sure the tv show was perfect!. After all the commotion everything worked out, but i do wish we had more time to prepare ourselves for such a wonderful day.
In conclusion i really enjoyed the trip to kairos. It was an amazing experience for our class group and we all learnt something new, whether it was to do with I.T our how to act in front of cameras.
